Keyball39

This is a DIY kit for a 40% split keyboard, designed to be easy on the shoulders, with a 100% user-friendly thumb trackball.

*To ensure as many people as possible can get one, please limit orders to one set per person.

While keeping the number of keys to 39, the ample bottom row keys and thumb keys can be assigned as modifier keys, allowing for stress-free key input. Also, the key layout on the side without the trackball is similar to a numeric keypad.

The most important feature is the thumb trackball, which is integrated into the palm, allowing for seamless cursor operation without moving your hand from the home row.
Due to its reversible design, left-handed users can swap the left and right PCBs during assembly to operate the trackball with their left hand.

In addition, a TRRS cable for connecting the left and right sides, and a USB cable for connecting to a PC are required separately.
Trackball operation was confirmed with Perixx PERIPRO-303 GR 34mm replacement trackballs in red, black, blue, green, and gold.

【■7 Features of Keyball39■】
① To allow each finger to naturally rest on the home row, we've adopted a column-staggered layout where each key is shifted vertically. By placing a 34mm trackball near the thumb keys, mouse operations can be performed without moving your hand from the home row.

② The keyboard is very compact, with a total of 39 keys for both sides. The layout is designed to assign modifier keys like Shift to the thumb keys or bottom row keys to reduce strain on the pinky finger.

③ The motion sensor is placed on the back of the ball for maximum thinness, so the trackball doesn't get in the way even when enclosed in the palm of your hand.

④ The trackball housing case is made by injection molding, giving it a smooth texture. Its precision holds the ball securely, preventing it from falling out even when the keyboard is inverted.

⑤ Due to its reversible design, left-handed users can swap the left and right PCBs during assembly to operate the trackball with their left hand.

⑥ In addition to underglow LEDs, LEDs can also be installed behind all keys except the thumb keys (46 LEDs total for both sides). Full-color LEDs are not included in the kit, so please purchase them separately from here or elsewhere. We use tab-attached type LEDs for easy soldering.

⑦ Compatible with Kailh PCB sockets, Cherry MX compatible switches can be hot-swapped. Only the thumb keys can be replaced with Kailh Choc low-profile switches, reducing wrist strain.
